Our Chill Zone series has been introducing the team here at Thermo-Kool. We hope you're learning a lot about the individuals who make our company special.
This month we spoke Jacob Ledet, who is our Sales Drafter. Even though he's only been at Thermo-Kool for a few years, Jacob has a background in foodservice. Here's a little more about Jacob, including what he loves doing in his spare time. Hint: there are cats and dragons involved!
How Long Have You Worked Here?
2.5 years and counting!
What's Your Role At Thermo-Kool
I'm a Sales Drafter, which means I fulfill drawing requests on quotes, as well as provide shop drawings for new orders. I also help train newer drafters within the department as well as help our Customer Account Representatives troubleshoot potential issues.
How Did You End Up In The Foodservice Industry?
I’ve been working in foodservice since I was 15 years old. It just so happens that once I got my Associate's degree, I started here at Thermo-Kool. I guess it was just meant to be!
Where Do You See The Industry Headed?
There is certainly no shortage of restaurants or commercial kitchens, so the only way to go is up!

What’s Your Favorite Food Or Beverage?
I’d have to say my dad’s biscuits and tomato gravy. A bit of a southern staple, but no one seems to be able to make it tastes the way he does.
Do You Have A Favorite Restaurant?
There is a local Asian restaurant simply referred to as “Panda,” not to be confused with the chain. The dishes they offer are simply unmatched by any other place I’ve been.
What's Your Go-To Order?
General Tso’s Chicken! It's just the right amount of sweet and savory. The sauce from the chicken pairs well with the chicken fried rice as well!
What Show Are You Binging Right Now?
While it only airs on BBC, I’ve been really fascinated with Taskmaster. It puts a different perspective on how simple tasks can be completed in some of the most obscure ways. Some are very clever, others are quite ridiculous.
Do You Cook At Home? If So, What’s Your Favorite Tool Or Appliance?
My mandoline! It’s perfect for making small precise cuts of vegetables that I simply don’t have the patience to cut by hand.
Where's The Coolest Place On Earth You've Ever Been?
The coolest place I’ve been (so far) would have to be Chicago, Illinois. I went there during my freshman year of college to attend a convention with some friends. The sheer amount of cultural differences and things to experience seemed never-ending. There was so much to do and see I didn’t sleep for the first two days!
Bonus points: I visited in the winter, so it was literally the “coolest” place I’d ever been!
What's your favorite cold weather sport?
While I’m not one to be particularly interested in sports, football will always have a place in my heart. Being in marching band, I was always there in the stands or on the field performing for the crowd. Those nights make up some of my fondest memories that I wouldn’t trade for the world.
However, the World Axe Throwing League has gained my interest in recent years, and I even participate in local chapter competitions from time to time.
In Your Opinion, What's The Best, Obscure Use For A Blast Chiller?
While I don’t have much experience with blast chillers, I do think it would be handy to help gelatin set quickly!
If You Could Describe Thermo-Kool In One Word, What Would It Be?
Resilient. Over my tenure here, I’ve been able to witness firsthand this company’s ability to take on many different challenges and still be able to provide for both customers and employees alike. There is never a dull moment, and the company always seems to be prepared for any outcome.
Anything else we should know about you?
I own a great many cats and love each one of them. Twenty-two years young and I’ve already adopted the “old-cat lady” lifestyle for sure. When I’m not busy chasing those fluff balls around, I’m typically hanging out with friends and/or playing trading card games such as Magic: The Gathering. We even host the occasion Dungeons & Dragons campaign if our schedules ever line up properly.
As mentioned earlier, I have a special place in my heart for music of nearly any sort. Music will always be my first love.
