A Recovery Friendly Workplace (RFW) is more than a label—it's a commitment to fostering an environment where employees in or seeking recovery from substance use disorders are supported and valued. At Thermo-Kool, this means implementing evidence-based policies and practices that recognize recovery as a strength and actively work to eliminate stigma. By uniting our organization around these principles, we aim to create a culture that promotes health, safety, and productivity for all employees.

Embracing the RFW model involves a holistic approach that benefits both individuals and the organization. For employees, it provides access to resources, peer support, and a sense of belonging. For Thermo-Kool, it leads to increased worker well-being, decreased turnover, improved productivity, and reduced health care costs. Our commitment to being a Recovery Friendly Workplace reflects our dedication to the well-being of our team and the broader community.

By integrating recovery-friendly practices into our workplace culture, we not only support our employees' personal growth but also strengthen our organization as a whole. This initiative aligns with our core values and underscores our belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive in a supportive and understanding environment.

In April 2025, Thermo-Kool's commitment to fostering a Recovery Friendly Workplace was spotlighted on a national stage. Our Human Resources Director, Kimberly McRoy, was honored to speak at the Rx and Illicit Drug Summit in Nashville, Tennessee—the nation's largest and most influential event addressing the opioid and addiction crisis. The Summit brings together leaders from public health, policy, business, and recovery communities to share strategies and forge solutions.

On April 24, Kimberly joined a distinguished panel alongside Ben Garthwaite, CEO of Fors Marsh, and Dana Piscapo, Director at Oracle. Their discussion centered on how recovery-friendly workplace policies are transforming organizational cultures and supporting employees in meaningful, life-changing ways. Kimberly's insights, drawn from her extensive experience in human resources and her passion for service, highlighted Thermo-Kool's proactive approach to employee well-being and recovery support.

Our participation in the Summit underscores Thermo-Kool's role as a leader in creating supportive work environments. By sharing our experiences and learning from others, we continue to strengthen our commitment to being a place where every employee has the opportunity to thrive.
