Substance use disorder affects millions of working adults across the country. Yet, too often, companies hesitate to support employees navigating recovery. That’s why we are especially honored to be part of a select group of organizations recognized at the national level for actively creating a recovery-friendly environment.
Thermo-Kool is one of only a small number of companies nationwide that earned this certification through the National Recovery Friendly Workplace Institute, a program led by the Global Recovery Initiatives Foundation. The standards are rigorous, and accreditation is not handed out lightly.
We had to demonstrate a strong track record of inclusive hiring practices, proactive training programs, equitable benefits, and a company culture that reduces stigma around mental health and recovery. We've worked hard to build these into our operations and our values.

This achievement was made possible by Kimberly McRoy's leadership and our dedicated team, who poured time and heart into completing the certification process. Their work reflects a belief we’ve always held at Thermo-Kool: that when we support people as whole individuals, everyone wins.
We also understand the broader importance of this milestone. According to the Global Recovery Initiatives Foundation, there are over 14 million Americans in recovery who are working full-time. Another 23 million are living with active substance use disorders, many of them also working. These are people with careers, families, goals, and so much to offer.
