    Jersey Mike's

    A Sub Above the Rest

New Hampshire—the Granite State—is, by comparison, one of the smaller states within the Land of the Free. However, what this New England state lacks in quantity, it more than makes up for in quality. Take Manchester for example. Hailed as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, Manchester once was a town lined with miles and miles of bricked factories along the mighty Merrimack River. It was a textile powerhouse whose factories produced 470 miles of fabric a day! And that’s only the history of it.

Today, Manchester is notable for its architecture, culture, musical exports, media links, scientific and engineering output, social impacts, sports clubs, and transport connections. Not to mention, it gave us the comedic legend that is Adam Sandler. With stats like this, it is little wonder why Manchester is the largest city in New Hampshire with a population of over 113,000. With a rich  history and thriving present, one would think a city like this has everything it could ever need. But is any place truly complete without a sub shop, especially when that sub could be the meal that makes a difference in someone else’s life?

Jersey Mike’s first opened its doors in 1956 to the sunny streets of Point Pleasant, New Jersey, a hot spot for vacationers as well as a central location for the legendary Jersey Shores. For 15 years, “Mike” drew in customers with his unique Submarine Sub and a personalized customer experience that was parallel to none. In 1971, Mike sold his shop to a 17-year-old Peter Cancro, who turned the one, Jersey Shores shop into the franchise powerhouse it is today.

But Jersey Mike’s isn’t just an ordinary sub shop. Besides its attention to quality and unsurpassed service, each sub purchased is a donation to a local charity. That’s right! Stopping in for your favorite sub means enjoying a delicious meal while also giving back to your community.

Some of the charities Jersey Mike’s supports are: March of Dimes, Children’s National Medical Center, YMCA, Regional Food Bank, United Way, and the Make A Wish Foundation. A full list of charities that Jersey Mike’s supports across the United States can be found here, as well as donation amounts made during their special month of giving: https://www.jerseymikes.com/news/549-

Creating a walk-in cooler and freezer for such a special job like Jersey Mike’s was both an honor and a privilege. Both walk-ins were custom-made to fit the building’s unique specifications and were assembled at Thermo-Kool’s factory location before shipment to guarantee no installation issues or cutting and pasting at the jobsite. Thermo-Kool’s uncompromising commitment to the highest level of quality and exceptional customer service makes for a perfect fit for the sub shop that strives for the same excellence in their restaurant.

Each storage unit was built with an internal and external stucco galvanized finish. The entrance doors, 36” x 78”, are equipped with a pilot light and switch assembly, vapor-proof light, dial thermometer and frame heater, 1/8” aluminum kickplates 36” high on the interior and exterior to protect the door against excessive abuse and traffic, and vinyl strip curtains.

Thermo-Kool Customer Account Representative, Erin Flynt, worked on the project with Ben Williams with Beacon Sales Group, LLC, who worked with Chad Mitchum with Berlin’s Restaurant Supply.

The new Jersey Mike’s in Manchester is owned by the Century Restaurants group and is located at 1215 S Willow Street, Manchester, New Hampshire 03103. If this is your neighborhood, or if you’re just passing through, be sure to stop by and grab a sub and support a great cause while doing so.

    Savannah Arena

Savannah is one of the top five cities essential to visit in the state of Georgia, according to Forbes. With its beautiful coastal landscapes, well-preserved architecture, and vibrant history, Savannah has much to offer for both tourists and permanent residents. And while some people remember Savannah for its haunted stories—like this ghost hunting enthusiast—most people will remember it for its famous Forrest Gump scene.

Savannah truly is its own box of chocolates, as it is full of wonderful surprises everyone is sure to enjoy.

One particular surprise cropping up in Savannah’s downtown district is the Savannah Arena. This massive structure is inspired by Savannah’s historic charm and includes eighteen premium areas, two premium clubs, twelve suites, one party suite, and club seating of 725. Including outdoor event spaces and the arena itself, which boasts a hefty seating for 9,500, this 20,000+ square-foot venue is an entertainment destination that is sure to thrill all ages.

With so much going on in one location, just one walk-in wouldn’t do. Assembled at Thermo-Kool’s factory, are four keg coolers and one walk-in cooler/freezer, each custom-made to fit the building’s unique specifications. Thermo-Kool’s uncompromising commitment to the highest level of quality and excellent customer service makes for a perfect fit among Savannah’s entertainment halls.

Thermo-Kool’s high-density DURATHANE panel perimeter allowed the Thermo-Kool walk-ins to be preassembled prior to shipment for a thorough quality control inspection to avoid “hidden costs” at the time of installation. With Thermo-Kool’s ability to manufacture in 1” panel increments, the walk-ins were manufactured in the exact sizes and configurations needed to maximize storage space capabilities with no “cutting and pasting” required in the field! Each storage unit was built with an internal white stucco aluminum finish, which— along with LED light fixtures—
ensures maximum illumination is provided. The entrance doors, 52” x 80” and 36” x 80”, are equipped with a thermostatically controlled door and frame heater, vapor-proof light, 1/8” aluminum kickplates 36” high on the interior and exterior to protect the door against excessive abuse and traffic, and vinyl swing doors.

    El Rayo Tex Mex Restaurant

In a little café just the other side of the border, or at least, that is where one might go for a true Tex-Mex experience. Though as luck would have it, just thirty minutes outside of Thermo-Kool’s hometown, our state’s very own top chef, Robert St. John, opened a gateway straight across the border and onto a palate boardwalk through Texan and Mexican flavors.

“St. John spent a lot of time on research and design of El Rayo by traveling to Texas, Georgia, Louisiana, Montana, and Wyoming on fact-finding and food-tasting missions. ‘We went to the source, and Texas is really where the heart of [Tex-Mex] is,’ St. John said.” (Source: https://www.hattiesburgamerican.com)

    Reynolds Lake Oconee

Dating back 100 years as a family retreat along the shores of the Oconee River, the early visitors quickly recognized the region as a destination of uncommon character. The striking beauty of the river and the Oconee Forest created a natural haven that felt like a world apart and provided a lifestyle with an informal cadence all on its own. Many visitors quickly decided to “linger longer,” turning one or two-day visits into three, four or five-day family retreats.

By 1982, the river had become Lake Oconee, offering more than four times the shoreline of Georgia’s Atlantic coastline, and the Reynolds club and community was founded. Since that day, it has evolved into a globally recognized resort and club, defined by extraordinary recreational and culinary amenities, an authentic spirit of Southern hospitality, and the consistent rhythms of the Oconee Forest and its magnificent lake. (Source: https://www.reynoldslakeoconee.com/)
